स.गो.थोरातांचा प्रतिवाद –‘‘श्रमांच्या प्रतिष्ठेसाठी शारदाबाईंना तिकीट द्यावंच लागेल. स्वतः टांगा चालवण्याची धडाडी शारदाबाईंमध्ये आहे. काळाच्या कितीतरी पुढे त्या चाकं लावून धावताहेत.’’ ही मात्रा लागू पडली. शारदाबाईंना निवडणुकीचं तिकीट शंभर टक्के स्वतःच्या मेरीटवर मिळालं. त्या प्रतिकुल कालखंडातही त्या काळाच्या कितीतरी पुढे घोडदौड करीत होत्या.

288 चौरंग मांडून, संपूर्ण महीनाभर मांत्रीकाकडून विधी करवून, सर्व 288 विधानसभा जागा जिंकण्याची स्वप्ने बघण्याइतपत डोक्यावर परिणाम झालेले कॉंग्रेसचे प्रांताध्यक्ष मी पाहीलेले आहेत. कॉंग्रेसच्या पंजाला बोटं कमी पण नवग्रहाच्या अंगठ्याच जास्त, अशी स्थिती आहे. कधीकधी तर मला आपलं वाटून जातं की एकुणात राजकीय नेत्यांनी ठेवलेल्या बायकांपेक्षा, ठेवलेल्या मांत्रीक-बुवांची संख्या जास्त असावी.

गाळलेल्या घामाला प्रतिष्ठा असावी, हे शारदाबाईंचं जीवनमूल्य होतं आणि आग्रहही होता. शेतमालाची ने-आण करण्यासाठी काट्याची वाडी ते दहा किलोमीटरवरली बारामती अशा खेपा, त्या स्वतः टांगा हाकत करीत असत. जमिनीची उत्पादकता वाढवण्यासाठी लागणारा खर्च पेलता यावा, म्हणून त्यांनी दागिने मोडले. अंगावरचं सोनं मातीत घातलं. सोनं नक्की कशात असतं, हे त्यांना नीट माहीत होतं.

घराणेशाहीची आताची अवस्था - घराण्यातली मंडळी विरुध्द घराणेशाहीला विरोध असणारी सच्ची लोकशाहीवादी मंडळी - असा मुळीच नाही. आजची तिची अवस्था आहे चुलत, सावत्र, अनौरस, मावस भावंडांमधला सत्तासंघर्ष! काही ठिकाणी रक्तरंजीत संघर्षही होऊन गेला. काही ठिकाणी महाभारत युध्दाची जुळवाजुळव चालू आहे.

बॉलीवुड, कॉर्पोरेट्स आणि विशेषतः राजकारणामधली मंडळी अपूर्ण वाढीच्या आपल्या पिलावळींसाठी काय काय करताना दिसतात आपल्याला! पण रखरखीत वाळवंटात वार्याची अशी एखादी झुळूकही येते!!

देशातल्या उतावळ्या तरुणांना मात्र, अण्णांच्या जागी मनोरुग्ण का होईना, पण मुन्नाभाई दिसत होता. अन् कॉंग्रेसच्या जागी ‘‘मामू, गेट वेल सुन’’ दिसत होता. परंतु देशातल्या तरुणांचे प्रेरणास्थान-आशास्थान असं बरंच काही काही असणार्या राहुलने मात्र, गांधी तत्वज्ञानाचं सोडुन द्या, पण गांधीगिरीवरचा सिनेमा तरी पाहीलाय की नाही, अशी शंका येत होती.

Forget the third world; poverty apart, hunger has grown in the US itself. Emergency food needs to be given each week to 5.7 million US citizens that include a large number of Whites, by agencies working under the Feeding America, according to this central agency’s findings for 2010. This figure for 2006 was 4.5 million. This is a 27 percent rise.

Though known for entrepreneurship and pragmatism, surprisingly Amrishbhai Patel thinks more of development-for-all than gains in politics for self.
